As is known, in December 2019, a pneumonia caused by the SARS_Co2 virus arose in Wuhan China, whose cases were multiplying aggressively in all countries of the world, causing thousands of deaths, therefore, at the end of January 2020 , the World Health Organization (WHO), declared a global public health emergency, which forced more than 180 countries into a state of calamity and social isolation that has caused, in addition to the effects on health systems and human losses, great effects on the economy with consequences on trade, employment and all productive activity.

As expected, the effects on the family economy have been felt at all socioeconomic levels, making it necessary to modify lifestyles and consumption, optimizing available resources. In addition, to reduce the transmission of the disease, all countries have enacted measures related to hygiene and hand washing, disinfection of environments and social isolation, which has led to work or stay at home, modifying tasks for family feeding.

Therefore, given that some of the most effective measures to counteract the transmission of the disease are those related to food hygiene and good practices for its handling, from the best purchase, selection, preparation and storage of food, Recommendations are shared to help maintain a healthy, balanced and safe diet, as well as some tips on time organization and good use of financial resources. In this note, recommendations on meal planning, how to shop, food selection, and how to optimize procedures and time for preparation are presented.
